Some Snarky Fun Stuff!

Wed Jun 24, 2009, 10:26 AM
Nothing to update on, I'm sorry. I've been busy re-acquainting myself with the city since my buddies (such as best friend forevah :icongnemesis: and a plethora of other people) and I are now regularly cavorting about now. And, I'm off on a very short trip to China (not sure if this is a boo or yay; been to China countless times - however this is the first time since January I'll be seeing my father in person) on Friday. So, there you have it. BUSY-NESS!

But I'll leave you with some snarky gems. There's this website called BroadwayWorld - I'll leave you guessing on what the content's comprised of. Anyhoo, they have messageboards populated by the funniest, snarkiest people ever. They make awesome threads such as:

"THE OFFICIAL BAD HIGH SCHOOL PRODUCTIONS ON YOUTUBE MEGATHREAD"
[link]

This one is my favorite and I dedicate it to all my fellow Mizzies. Unless you're from this school, because then I'll just stand here and stammer awkwardly. But, please introduce me to the fellow playing Marius, because I simply MUST meet him: [link]
Of course, since they're FRENCH, they must wear berets! Or enormous, fluffy cavalier hats!

But that's actually not as fun as:

"HILARIOUS COMMENTS OVERHEARD BY TOURISTS AND AUDIENCE MEMBERS"
[link]

I don't find this little anecdote silly at all - if anything, I understand completely. They never actually say his name even ONCE officially anyway:

From the last time the Les Miz tour came through my city: two teenage girls at the stage door, giggling at each other, peering at all the guys who came out and whispering things like, "No, that's not him, I don't think he's come out yet."

"Are you here for Randal Keith?" says I. [Randal was playing Valjean at the time.] "Or waiting for someone you know?"

"Oh no," they say, exchanging conspirational giggles. "We don't know anyone. We're just here for him. You know. Captain Vest."

CAPTAIN VEST!
I love him too.

And then, this one's just weird. I'm not even giving an example:

"BROADWAY VOICES AND FOOD COMPARISONS"
[link]

I will agree with one of the comments - it makes you hungry.

Enjoy, dears!

Ps. Some of the remarks/actions on the Overheard Comments, I do understand where the tourist/un-savvy theatregoer is coming from. Some of them are just enormously cute and endearing. But the hilarity lies in pretentious theatre snobs who really know nothing, and people who are just really, REALLY stupid. "I'm so impressed that they found a real green-skinned girl!"

The Mickey on the Mark Twain is on the bottom level of the steamboat, just to the right of the double barred banister. He just looks like another passenger ^_^

Haha, yeah. I have a CD of the original songs. He's got a very special voice, I don't think any of the stage Frankies have (and never will for that matter) nailed it - the closest one is the current Broadway guy, Jarrod. Also, thanks for the watch!

grrr... me mad @ you! i also think jeff madden (the toronto guy that i saw officially 2 weeks ago 2day!) is very close, if you ever hear him. i want the original broadway cd and one franki cd. do you know which one is the best cd that he made? (possibly with or without the four seasons?)

I just have The Very Best of the Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. I also have the Jersey Boys cast recording, but at some point I'd like that big fat CD anthology of all their best songs :3
Jeff is quite close, but Jarrod has a special..."edge" to his voice that just makes it the best. Frankie's real voice is like, nasal falsetto with an occasional GROWL, and if I had to describe it I'd say it's kind of scorchy and rough, but precise all the same. JLY and Jeff sing really cleanly, but Jarrod's extra whateverness (I don't even know what to call it) wins the Frankie-alike voice for me. Here's an example: [link] Jeremy's in this video too :3 )
